The Israeli DLC in particular is full of very quirky units for instance, and the Swedish ones are peculiar too. The DLC is interesting, as as someone who loves making up different armies for balance and flavour I really enjoyed it. Still, it’s worth a crack, and grinding out a campaign win is very satisfying, though tbh perhaps a little less satisfying than Air Land Battle. The campaigns can be won, but you need to really know the knack for specific games and battles, and that can be frustrating. TBH I don’t really love the online culture, so the skirmish mode works fine for me.Ĭampaigns are very tricky, and many depend on the weakest element of the game, the naval combat - that is not great by any means. You can always fight and win faster, with fewer casualties, or taking key points faster. The complexity of the different ways you can build armies, the different maps, and the different tactical approaches you can take mean that you can, with a bit of imagination, face new and interesting challenges multiple times. If this sounds like something you wanna do lemme know! I can, at very least, teach you the extreme basics of it if you don’t already know them. I would 100% be down to link up and learn the game together we could hop on 2v2’s without the stress of letting a team down. I’m an American on the east coast, our time difference is 16 hours (It’s 1:30pm here and 5:30am over there). Multiplayer spooks me a bit cuz I don’t wanna take a slot in a game away from someone who may contribute to the team more and 1v1’s is probably a place to get stomped and learn nothing. The only single player mode worth playing is skirmish and that’s because you have unlimited possibilities for deck construction and gameplay if you set it up properly. Multiplayer is a totally different animal from single player. Personally, I would 100% suggest picking up the DLC but maybe buy the base game first and play a skirmish or two before you decide. It very much so IS overwhelming to learn so much about the game and it really comes down to preference of fun vs. I bought it with all DLC about a year ago and kept putting off learning the game until last week. But jump in the discord (-> sidebar) and just ask around :) I could quite comfortably get in 4/5 games a day if i tried or hosted my own :) I guess you can practice unit micro with it but even so it's pretty a-strategic.įinally, playing from australia you can find games but they tend to be in the evening or early morning when EU/NA are online. If you cant beat the ai though (naval doesnt count) I'd worry though. No planes but at least it's not just "defend these zones and wipe out waves of enemies coming at you mindlessly with air and arty spam (guess it is more similar to destruction than i originally gave it credit for.). I'd actually recommend European Escalation over it just because it has some variety. The campaigns are pretty un-eventful and un-original. Multiplayer will crush you if you play like that (unless its destruction in which case the camping part is largely that same). Find a defensible location and camp it like crazy with units that you didnt get to choose and terrible composition that you had no choice in. Singleplayer is closer to zombie defence mode. Yes, both involve hitting a ball with a stick of sorts, but they are very different. Let me just say off the bat, that singleplayer and multiplayer are completely (and i mean COMPLETELY) different beasts.
